Friday Freebie: GuestlistApp

Our Friday Freebie section offers information about free services and resources that your charity can take advantage of.

Founded in December 2008, Guestlist is an online event registration service that provides users everything they need to sell and manage admission for events.

Quickly and easily set up registration for your fundraisers, galas, and concerts quickly and easily. One of the great things about the GuestlistApp user interface is that you do not need to have any HTML or programming skills to set a page up.

The way GuestlistApp makes money is that they charge a small commission on each ticket sold. However,  they take a 0% commission on charity events. So if you are a registered charitable organization and you've signed up to use GuestlistApp for your events, just notify them of your charitable status and they will flag your account.

Here are some of the awesome features of GuestlistApp:

  • Customize registration pages with your logo and event information
  • Promotion tools via sharing tools
  • Embed ticket sales into your own website
  • Compile email lists of attendees
  • Send email invitations to attendees
  • Accept payment for tickets through Paypal

Friday Freebie: $500 worth of promotional products from 4imprint

Our Friday Freebie section offers information about free services and resources that your charity can take advantage of.

4imprint is promotional products company, where organizations can order a wide range of branded products. These are the type of products you get at conferences and trade shows.

The company has a program called one by one®, in which each day they grant a worthy organization with $500 in promotional products to "spread the word, recruit volunteers, thank donors, offer comfort to someone in need or in some other way turns one thing into something much more."

How to take advantage of the freebie:

  1. Complete the request form located here. You’ll need to enter in your BN number, and answer a few questions about your organization, what product you’d like to order, and the audiences you serve.
  2. Submit your application!

Remember: 4imprint gives away one of these grants EVERY DAY so there are many chances to get chosen. They also allow you to re-apply after six months if your application does not get chosen. Keep trying as $500 worth in promotional products can go far!

What would you order if your organization was chosen to receive the one by one® grant? Let us know in the comments!

Friday Freebie: 50 MOO Facebook Cards

Our Friday Freebie section offers information about free services and resources that your charity can take advantage of.

You may have noticed that Facebook profiles have switched to Timeline, and now include large format photography at the top. In response to this, UK business card printing company MOO introduced their new Facebook Card – a business card created by pulling information and photos from your Facebook account. And they’ve introduced the card in a big way – by offering the 50 free Facebook Cards for a limited time. Shipping is not included in the deal, but it's only $7.50.

The cards will feature all your Cover Photos, your profile picture, your name, company or college, where you live, and your Facebook URL, phone number and e-mail address. On the back of the card is a space for you to add a quote or sentence.

After posting and reading about charitable Facebook cover photos, we came up with some ways your nonprofit can take advantage of this freebie to promote your cause:

  • Encourage your supporters to take up this free offer with a Cover Photo that promotes that they support your organization
  • Get staff to create cards that reflect the important work they do at your organization
  • Include information on the back about how to support your organization

How to take advantage of the freebie:

  1. Go to http://us.moo.com/products/facebook-cards.html
  2. Allow MOO to connect to your Facebook account (they need to access your account to pull your information and photos).
  3. Customize and edit your cards.
  4. Place your order!
  5. Hand the cards out at social events and strike up some conversation!
